iPad eBook Experience
My experience, so far, with iBooks and the iPad:
I should really use iBooks, since I don’t have anything in there except the Prag Prog magazines. Oh, and “Winnie the Pooh”.
opens iBooks and searches for a novel by David J. Williams
Nope, not there. How about a business book.
searches for a book by Jim Collins
Nope, not there either. I don’t expect iBooks to have Jim’s stuff, anyway.
searches for a book by Salman Rushdie
Oh, come on!
closes iBooks and opens Kindle app, quickly finding and buying all three desired books
Just another anecdote, but I’ve been looking forward to trying out iBooks with a book that I, uhh… am actually looking for.
Somewhat on-topic: with the B&N reader app now available for the iPad, who’s going to attract and keep the publishers so that the rest of us can buy and read the books? Between authors, publishers, distributors/storefronts, and readers, there’s got to be a way to keep a vibrant e-media marketplace that lets us all come out ok.
As for the paper and printing industries… Sorry guys, it may be time to start moving on.
